Phase Space Concepts and Diagnostic for Hamiltonian Discovery in Multi-Timescale Complex Systems: The Taming of the Quantum Shrew
---update with softeware adddition--- We present a novel diagnostic framework for identifying Hamiltonian structure in complex fluid dynamics through systematic exploration of collapse metrics across three-timescale parameter space. The method employs phase space reconstruction, Lyapunov exponent analysis, and area preservation tests to detect conserved quantities and symplectic structure in systems where traditional Hamiltonian formulation is intractable. The diagnostic centers on three temporal parameters (t₁, t₂, t₃) representing vortex formation, energy cascade, and dissipation timescales. By analyzing collapse metric time series, we identify parameter regimes exhibiting Hamiltonian-like behavior indicative of coherent structures. This approach, developed through human-AI collaborative synthesis, represents a methodological advance: discovering where Hamiltonian structure emerges rather than assuming its existence. The framework extends beyond fluid dynamics to neural oscillations, quantum-classical transitions, and plasma physics. Complete computational methodology and theoretical foundations are provided. Experimental validation is planned for future work. The approach demonstrates AI-augmented scientific discovery where computational capabilities amplify human domain expertise.
