UAV Structure Design and Analysis
This research paper presents a complete survey and analysis of UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) structural design using PLA-based additive manufacturing. It covers CAD modeling, material selection, simulation workflows, and manufacturing techniques for lightweight and modular UAV fuselages. Special focus is given to PLA material behavior, FDM 3D-printing parameters, and structural evaluation of UAV components under static, modal, and buckling loads using ANSYS Workbench. The study also analyzes print settings, structural optimization, and rapid prototyping benefits for educational and emergency UAV applications. Additionally, the paper highlights challenges such as anisotropic strength, thermal limitations, and manufacturing defects in 3D-printed structures, and presents future research opportunities in AI-based topology optimization, reinforced PLA composites, and hybrid manufacturing methods. This work provides a complete technical reference for researchers developing low-cost, robust, and field-deployable UAV airframes.
