Resolution of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia in the Peripheral Blood After Treatment With Temozolomide
We report the case of a 70-year-old male with untreated chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), who was subsequently diagnosed with glioblastoma. He received a course of oral chemotherapy with temozolomide for the treatment of glioblastoma. We noticed the gradual decrease of the circulating CLL cells during the treatment, and after 3 months, the flow cytometry of the peripheral blood was negative for residual CLL. In view of our observation, and a prior published report of a similar case of complete response of CLL to temozolomide, we believe that the activity of this agent may deserve further study.
