Medication-related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw. Part 1: Overview
Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) remains a prevalent risk in the dental setting, owing to the increasing number of conditions treated with bone-modifying agents, as well as the evolving list of medications attributed to this condition. This two-part series will provide an overview of MRONJ and its management. Part 1 provides a background on MRONJ, as well as discussing the role of the general dental practitioner in managing patients who are planned for bone-modifying agents. Part 2 will discuss the management of patients with MRONJ. CPD/Clinical Relevance: Clinicians should be aware of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw.
