The Role of Emotional Intelligence in Translation Performance
This research explores the impact of emotional intelligence on translation performance among undergraduate students at Al-Hikmah University. The study investigates how components of emotional intelligence such as self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills affect translators’ decision-making, accuracy, and fluency. Using a mixed method approach, the research combines quantitative results from emotional intelligence assessments with qualitative analysis of translation samples. Findings reveal a strong positive correlation between higher emotional intelligence levels and improved translation quality, especially in tasks requiring cultural and contextual sensitivity. The study highlights the importance of integrating emotional intelligence training into translation education to enhance both cognitive and interpersonal translation skills.
