A Commemorative Poetry Collection of Wang Anshi, a Statesman, Poet, and Reformer 《

Lawrence K. Wang 王抗曝 , Ping-Chang Su 蘇平章, and Hung-ping Tsao 曹恆平, (2025). A Commemorative Poetry Collection of Wang Anshi, a Statesman, Poet, and Reformer 《王安石文政詩選紀念集》, "Global Humanities and Liberal Arts", Volume 2025, Number 11B, November 9, 2025; 2025(11B), 38 pages, Lenox Institute Press, MA, USA. [email protected]. ABSTRACT: Wang Anshi (1021–1086) was a towering figure of the Northern Song dynasty—politician, philosopher, and literary master. His Xining Reforms remain one of the most controversial in Chinese history, embodying far-reaching idealism and sparking profound political and cultural reverberations. This commemorative poetry collection honors Wang Anshi through four poetic forms—classical verse, five-character regulated verse, seven-character regulated verse, and modern poetry—each paired with contextual analysis to offer readers a multidimensional tribute to a man whose ideals continue to resonate across centuries. Jointly authored by three lifelong friends — Lawrence K. Wang (engineering), Hung-ping Tsao (mathematics), and Ping-chang Su (cultural history) — all alumni of National Taiwan Normal University Affiliated High School (1958–1962), the volume presents an interdisciplinary reappraisal of Wang Anshi's legacy through the lenses of engineering logic, mathematical reasoning, and political philosophy. The book comprises five core components: Wang Anshi's biographical research, literary analysis, political deconstruction, historical reevaluation, and five original commemorative poems by Editor L. K. Wang —"Literary Torch" (classical poem), "Xining Resolve" (five-character regulated verse), "A Statesman for the Ages" (seven-character regulated verse), "At the Highest Peak" (modern poem) and "Chronicle of Childhood companions" (modern poem). Notably, Editors H. P. Tsao and P. C. Su's comparative study of Wang Anshi and Su Shi (1037–1101) bridges classical lyricism with modern scholarly dialogue, reframing Wang as a multidimensional statesman-poet beyond conventional success-or-failure narratives.

A Commemorative Poetry Collection of Wang Anshi, a Statesman, Poet, and Reformer 《王安石文政詩選紀念集》, "Global Humanities and Liberal Arts", Volume 2025, Number 11B, November 9, 2025; 2025(11B), 38 pages, Lenox Institute Press, MA, USA.
