A REVIEW OF HOW AI, BIG DATA, AND BLOCKCHAIN ARE BEING USED OR COULD BE USED TO IMPROVE TAX COLLECTION AND COMPLIANCE
This paper deals with the frontier edge position of artificial intelligence (AI), big data analytics, and blockchain technology in transforming tax collection and compliance systems. According to the recent literature analysis, this paper deals with the ways in which the new technologies are transforming tax administration from retrogressive to progressive forms of enforcement. The report indicates that while AI and machine learning algorithms are good at identifying patterns and fraud, big data analytics offers taxpayer behavior with high detail and blockchain offers immutability and transparency to tax transaction. Implementation challenges still exist in the form of data privacy issues, regulatory loopholes, and investment in infrastructure at high scale. The integration of these technologies can fill the world tax gap without, concurrently, reducing compliance costs to honest taxpayers.
