Governance, Diplomacy, and Global Accountability: A Critical Analysis of the United Nations and the Dynamics of International Organisations Management
This article examines the management dynamics of international organisations using the United Nations (UN) as a case study. Drawing on experiential learning from the University of Geneva’s International Organisations Management programme and global field observations, it critically analyses the UN’s diplomatic and structural systems. The study highlights the UN’s achievements in education, humanitarian aid, diplomacy, and sustainable development, while addressing challenges such as funding constraints, sovereignty limitations, and political diplomacy. The paper argues that despite operational complexities, the UN remains a global model for conflict resolution, cooperative governance, and sustainability, and concludes with recommendations for strategic mentorship and collaborative frameworks to enhance institutional effectiveness and global accountability.
