About Biblical Counseling
Biblical counseling, as defined by Jay Adams (1974), is the ministry of the Word and Spirit of God that seeks to transform the counselee’s personality and behavior. Rooted in the sufficiency of Scripture, it emphasizes concern, confrontation, and change as essential elements in guiding individuals toward spiritual growth and healing. Unlike secular counseling, biblical counseling interprets emotional, relational, and moral struggles through a Christ-centered and Scripture-based lens. It aims not only to address personal and interpersonal problems but also to foster sanctification through the work of the Holy Spirit. True biblical counseling remains faithful to Scripture, dependent on divine wisdom, and motivated by love, reflecting God’s redemptive purpose in transforming lives for His glory.
