Dynamical Triviality and the Collapse of Structure: Why Aperiodic Orbits are Periodic Orbits of Infinite Period
We investigate the structure of aperiodic orbits in a generalized shift systemon the uncountable Cantor space C = {0, 1}^{A}, where A is partitioned into uncountablymany countable chains. While the aperiodic set admits 2^{2^{ℵ0}}topologically distinct orbit closures and contains uncountably many minimal components, we prove that the inducedshift acts trivially—every aperiodic orbit class is a fixed point. Combined with the resultthat topological entropy is infinite (arising entirely from periodic orbit proliferation), thisjustifies a natural compactification collapsing all aperiodic orbits to a single point. This dramatic simplification—from 2^{2^{ℵ0}} to one—preserves all dynamical and entropy-theoretic information, as the collapsed structure is topologically rich but dynamically andinformationally inert. Our main theorem rigorously establishes that ”aperiodic orbits areperiodic orbits of infinite period” as a dynamical and information-theoretic equivalence, demonstrating that topological complexity, dynamical complexity, and entropy can varyindependently. This provides a case study in optimal information compression and distin-guishability theory within dynamical systems.
