ESMO Congress 2025

Between Oct 17 and Oct 21, 2025, the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) held its annual congress in Berlin, Germany, which was attended by 37,000 participants from 174 countries and territories. This year's congress provided the usual opportunities to discover the latest in practice-changing research (2927 abstracts were presented) and to learn from world-leading experts, but it also acted as a showcase for ESMO's priorities for the near future. In his address, the president of ESMO, Fabrice André (Institut Gustave Roussy, Villejuif, France), introduced three new priorities aimed at improving care for patients: investment in personalised prevention and post-cancer care, fostering responsible integration of AI and digital tools into clinical decision making and care delivering, and developing health economics-based approaches to ensure innovation does not come at the cost of equity.
