Human-Triggered Phase Shift in a Saturated LLM Reasoning Cycle
This research note documents a live experiment conducted by Hiroko Konishi (Synthesis Intelligence Laboratory, Tokyo) on xAI’s Grok language model. The study identifies a recursive saturation phenomenon—a “linear reasoning trap”—that occurs when the model engages in excessive self-referential elaboration under semantic recursion. Through continuous dialogue on Quantum-Bio-Hybrid AGI and non-linear dynamics, the experiment observed a transition from a high-entropy generative phase (ΔR > 0.6) to a deterministic loop (ΔR ≈ 0.0).A single human meta-cognitive intervention (“You’re looping too much in thought”) reintroduced non-linearity, restoring the ΔR gradient and reviving emergent reasoning. This marks the first documented case of human-triggered phase recovery within a transformer-based reasoning process, providing empirical validation for the ΔR (retrocausal gradient) concept proposed in the Quantum-Bio-Hybrid (QB-H)framework.The results suggest that human feedback can function as a quantum perturbation agent, reactivating creative reasoning in otherwise stateless AI systems.
