Temporal Dynamics of Controlled Irrationality

This technical note introduces the temporal derivative of the Controlled Irrationality Index (CII₁–₄), extending the framework proposed in the Controlled Irrationality Index Working Paper v1.1. The derivative form, expressed as dCII/dt, formalizes the dynamic interpretation of rational activation as a feedback process evolving over time. By treating CII as a time-dependent function, this formulation enables the quantification of acceleration or deceleration in controlled irrationality—capturing the kinetic aspect of bounded rational behavior.

Abstract

This technical note introduces the temporal derivative of the Controlled Irrationality Index (CII₁–₄), extending the framework proposed in the Controlled Irrationality Index Working Paper v1.1. The derivative form, expressed as dCII/dt, formalizes the dynamic interpretation of rational activation as a feedback process evolving over time. By treating CII as a time-dependent function, this formulation enables the quantification of acceleration or deceleration in controlled irrationality—capturing the kinetic aspect of bounded rational behavior.
