THE AERODYNAMIC INFLUENCE OF BLADE GEOMETRY ON THE FORMATION OF HELICOPTER ROTOR THRUST

This article examines the influence of rotor blade geometry on the distribution of aerodynamic forces and the magnitude of thrust generated. A comparative analysis of rectangular and sabre-shaped blades is conducted based on theoretical relationships linking lift, drag, and effective flow velocity. It is established that the sabre-shaped blade provides a more uniform lift distribution along the radius and reduces localized pressure peaks, thereby minimizing wave losses. Calculated data demonstrates that a slight reduction in integral thrust improves the overall rotor performance, reducing drag and vibration and increasing flow stability. The results confirm that sabre-shaped geometry is an effective means of optimizing rotor systems in modern helicopters, where stability, reliability, and reduced acoustic performance at high rotation speeds are priorities.
