Appendix A: Online, Curriculum, and Policy Resources National Curricular and Policy Frameworks (DEMOCRAT)

This appendix accompanies the record “WP4 Desk-Based Research (Ireland): Education for Democracy – National and Comparative Analysis” and forms part of Dublin City University’s contribution to Work Package 4 (EfD Curricula: Towards Responsible Democratic Citizenship) of the Horizon Europe project DEMOCRAT – Education for Responsible Democratic Citizenship (Grant Agreement No. 101095106). The document compiles and systematises all curricular, policy, and online resources consulted for the Irish national mapping of Education for Democracy (EfD), Citizenship Education, and Global Citizenship Education across the Irish education system. It includes references to government and statutory policy documents, curriculum frameworks, teacher education standards, NGO and CPD initiatives, and relevant European and international frameworks. The purpose of this appendix is to provide a transparent record of source material used in the national and comparative analysis conducted by the DCU research team under WP4. It enables open verification of data sources and supports reuse by other researchers examining how democratic competences, citizenship, and rights-based education are integrated into Irish policy and curriculum. The dataset is structured thematically, covering: National curricular and policy frameworks (Department of Education, NCCA, Teaching Council, etc.); Government and agency reports relevant to civic and democratic education; NGO, CPD, and educational partnership programmes (AONTAS, Trócaire, UNICEF, PDST, etc.); International policy and rights frameworks (UNESCO, Council of Europe, EU, UNCRC); and Supplementary websites and repositories related to teacher professional learning and civic participation. This resource may be cited independently or as a supplementary dataset to the main record (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.17545548). It reflects DCU’s role in coordinating the desk-based research element of WP4 and contributes to Deliverable D4.1 (Outline of a European EfD Curriculum), jointly led by UH, DCU, and TLU.
