Plate2Purpose - Giving Surplus a Purpose-Feed More, Waste Less.
This research paper presents Plate2Purpose, a smart food donation and waste management system designed to reduce food waste and promote equitable food redistribution. The system uses location-based technology to connect food donors with nearby NGOs or individuals in need. Built with Cordova for cross-platform functionality, it integrates features such as donor verification, real-time donation tracking, and AI-based food quality classification for future scalability. The project aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 2 – Zero Hunger and SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production) by promoting sustainable food management practices. Experimental results and literature survey demonstrate the system’s potential to reduce food wastage and ensure efficient redistribution through a simple mobile interface.
