High Q-factor perfect absorber development based on pyramidal formation for THz sensing

we present a novel all-dielectric absorber designed for terahertz applications such as biosensing. The proposed structure consists of four quasi-pyramidal elements arranged orthogonally, forming a highly efficient absorber. This design is specifically tailored for a frequency of 1.34 THz and has been analyzed in the frequency domain. Our results demonstrate that this absorber achieves a high Q factor of approximately 60000, indicating its effectiveness as a complete absorber. Furthermore, the structure’s unique configuration allows it to function as a terahertz sensor, showcasing its potential for advanced sensing applications. The Full-wave simulation base on frequency domain and periodic boundary condition based on periodic boundary condition is used for accurate design. This paper reveals the effect of physical and chemical (material) on controlling the absorption and Q-factor. This absorber is used as part of microfluidic sensor. The sensitivity and figure of merit (FOM) are obtained 33.7 GHz/RIU and 1.68E + 6 RIU −1 for glucose.

Abstract

we present a novel all-dielectric absorber designed for terahertz applications such as biosensing.
