Green Sukuk and Age Demographics: Impact on Islamic Economy and Sustainable Development

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between the age of Green Sukuk investors and their contribution to sustainable development and Islamic economic growth in Indonesia. As the world's largest Muslim population and a commitment to the Paris Agreement, Indonesia has developed a sharia financial instrument in the form of Green Sukuk to fund eco-friendly projects. Using a quantitative approach with the distribution of questionnaires to 120 respondents, the data were analysed through SmartPLS software to test the validity of the construct and the relationship between variables. Research results show that corporate action and responsibility (CAR), Green Sukuk contribution (GSC), and Green Sukuk impact (GPI) have a significant impact on development and growth indicators (DGI). The younger generation, particularly Gen Z and Millennials, shows significant enthusiasm for Green Sukuk. Unlike older generations whose investment behaviour is often driven by stability or long-term gains, Gen Z and Millennials are influenced more by ethical alignment and digital accessibility. Their values, rooted in environmental awareness and technological familiarity, offer new opportunities for financial institutions to develop targeted marketing strategies—such as gamification of investment platforms or Sharia-based ESG reporting tools
