CAPITAL MARKET PERFORMANCE AND ITS IMPACT ON INDUSTRIAL SECTOR FINANCING IN NIGERIA
The Nigerian capital market plays a critical role in pricing mechanisms and contributes significantly to the financing and growth of the industrial sector. This study examines the impact of key capital market indicators—industrial loans, equity, and market capitalization—on industrial sector financing in Nigeria. Data were obtained from the Central Bank of Nigeria Statistical Bulletin and the Nigerian Stock Exchange Fact Book, and analyzed using ordinary least squares (OLS) multiple regression techniques. Findings reveal that industrial loans and market capitalization have a significant positive impact on industrial sector financing, while equity shows no significant effect. Based on these results, the study recommends enhancing market capitalization through improved share prices and stock volumes, monitoring percentage ratios during corporate investments, and ensuring government oversight of publicly quoted companies to support industrial growth and stability.
