Measurement of the Nuclear Symmetry Energy Slope L0 from Vortex Oscillations in Pulsar Glitches
This working paper presents a computational investigation into extracting nuclear physics parameters from pulsar glitch recovery data. Using Bayesian inference methods, we analyze post-glitch oscillations in the Vela pulsar and PSR J1522-5735 to constrain the nuclear symmetry energy slope parameter L₀. The analysis employs a calibrated vortex oscillation model and yields L₀ = 60.5 ± 6.7 MeV, consistent with measurements from heavy-ion collisions, gravitational waves (GW170817), and NICER observations. We also report an empirical scaling relationship α ∝ Ω^0.57 for the geometric factor across different pulsar rotation rates.
