Influence of Demographic Factors on the Promotion of Electronic Information Resources in State-Owned Universities in Delta State, Nigeria
This study examined the influence of demographic factors on the promotion of electronic information resources in the state-owned universities in Delta State, Nigeria. Using a descriptive survey design, data were collected through a structured questionnaire administered to all 66 librarians across the four state universities in the State, representing the total study population. The instrument comprised two sections: the first captured demographic characteristics (university affiliation, gender, age, work experience, and rank), while the second focused on practices and perceptions relating to the promotion of electronic information resources. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and correlational techniques. The findings revealed a positive and significant relationship between demographic characteristics and the promotion of electronic information resources. Specifically, factors such as librarians’ age, gender, qualification, and years of experience influenced their level of engagement in promoting electronic resources. The study underscores the need for continuous professional development and targeted capacity-building initiatives to enhance librarians’ competencies in digital resource promotion within university library systems.
