Thames Tideway Tunnel: procurement and programme management

Thames Tideway Tunnel is a major combined sewer overflow infrastructure project along the tidal River Thames in central London, with permission granted by a Development Consent Order. The project was principally delivered by the infrastructure provider Bazalgette Tunnel Limited, known as Tideway, with some works delivered by Thames Water. Tideway’s scope of works was designed and constructed by three main works contractors and one system integrator contractor. This paper covers the procurement of those four contractors while Thames Water was the client, and the programme management of the contracts in the delivery phase while Tideway was the client.
