Paper 1: The Holophase Framework - A Monistic Ontology Deriving Time, Space, and Motion from Phase Dynamics

Abstract We develop a measurement-first, falsifiable ontology in which a single cyclic field—the holophase —is fundamental. In this framework, time, space, and motion are not primitive, independent concepts but are operational readouts derived from a more fundamental entity. This derivation is formalized by the Tri-Unity 1-form d=dt−kdx, a differential relation that binds a change in the holophase to increments in coordinate time and space. The coefficients of this 1-form, the temporal cadence and the spatial wave vector k, are the primary physical observables. Physical instruments are formally modeled as coupling to this ontological substrate over finite spacetime windows W, producing gauge-invariant, coherence-weighted encoders of these phase derivatives. This work provides a comprehensive framework comprising: (i) a complete kinematic unification of time, space, and motion; (ii) a dynamical framework derived from a novel, connection-first action principle that includes an integrability constraint to ensure the holophase interpretation; (iii) a rigorous bridge that identifies classical stress-energy tallies with specific combinations of our phase-derived encoders; (iv) a thermodynamic interface defined through phase-entropy and windowed balance laws, yielding a statistical arrow of time; (v) a quantum/topological interface that explains discretization and quantized response through holonomy and topological terms like the Chern-Simons action; and (vi) a comprehensive, preregistered falsification battery (Gates G1–G7) designed to make the theory empirically vulnerable. A central new result is the entropy–coherence reconciliation, which demonstrates that local phase-entropy increases under autonomous evolution (an H-theorem) while multi-scale coherence can grow simultaneously via dynamical coherence selection. This resolves the apparent paradox between the universal tendency towards microscopic disorder and the observed emergence of macroscopic order. The entire framework is covariant, unit-consistent, instrument-facing, and designed for decisive experimental validation or falsification.
