ENHANCING THE USER EXPERIENCE AND ACCESSIBILITY OF MUSIC CULTURAL HERITAGE DIGITAL ARCHIVES
Traditional music is an essential part of cultural heritage, yet its accessibility and preservation facesignificant challenges in the digital era. The main problem lies in the lack of technological solu-tions that enable broad access to traditional music, limiting community engagement and the abilityto share and celebrate cultural identity across generations and geographies. Inconsistent metadatastandards and technological barriers frequently limit the efficient preservation and global accessi-bility of music archives. Efforts to preserve and transmit musical history across generations arefurther complicated by the fact that many traditional music collections are still at risk of data loss, storage format decay, and a lack of technical experience in preservation approaches. This thesisaddresses the challenges by creating an accessible digital archive platform that improves interac-tion with traditional music heritage archive using a human-centered approach(HCD). The platformmaintains an accessible and usable design while guaranteeing data integrity, protection againstunauthorised access, and long-term sustainability through the integration of ISO/IEC 27001:2022security standards. By adopting guidelines for high quality user experience design and followingstandardized metadata for music archive systems, the results indicate that the designed platformcan foster cultural heritage preservation and increase access to traditional music through digitalcommunity engagement. However, this thesis acknowledges certain limitations and challenges indeveloping universally applicable user experience designs that effectively address diverse culturalexpectations and technological constraints. Future work can investigate using machine learningtechniques for content personalization and improving accessibility in the digital music heritagearchive systems.
