The Nexus Between Being Born Again and Being a Christian: An Urgent Call From Spiritual Passivity To Activity

This research examines the growing disconnect between the concept of being born again and being a Christian. It highlights that many believers have settled into spiritual passivity, forgetting that regeneration is not just about translation into the kingdom of God’s dear son, but also a divine commissioning into His work. Drawing insights from the words of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, His apostle Paul, and other biblical authors, the study presents that every believer is a potential minister of the gospel by virtue of the new birth. The study adopts sola scriptura methodology, employing theological exegesis, doctrinal and contextual models to explore the link between new birth and active ministry. The study reveals that there should not be a separation between being born again and being a Christian. The paper, therefore, recommends renewed discipleship teaching, ministry training for all believers, and intentional structures within the local church to engage every member in ministry, and concludes that true evidence of new birth is active ministry participation and faithful service.
