Pulmonary artery embolization of an atrial leadless pacemaker: A case report of retrieval strategy
A 65-year-old patient with a history of sinus node dysfunction underwent dual-chamber pacemaker implantation in 2020. Her history included end-stage renal disease requiring hemodialysis and diabetes mellitus. A device infection was diagnosed following positive blood cultures for methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia, followed by complete device extraction. Given her predisposition to infections and continued need for atrial pacing, the decision to implant an Aveir AAI LPM was taken.
