First person – Marvin Cortez and Cullen Young
ABSTRACT First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Journal of Cell Science, helping researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Marvin Cortez and Cullen Young are co-first authors on ‘ A conserved domain of Cfap298 governs left–right symmetry breaking in vertebrates’, published in JCS. Marvin is a PhD student in the labs of Rebecca D. Burdine and Danelle Devenport at Princeton University, NJ, USA, investigating how planar cell polarity mediates the polarization of microtubule-based structures, such as cilia and centrosomes. Cullen is a PhD student in Rebecca Burdine’s lab at Princeton University, where he is investigating the role of cilia in developmental patterning.
