Multimodal Analysis and Recontextualization in the Bilingual Micro-video Oracle Bone Inscriptions
Oracle bone inscriptions, as the oldest writing system in China dating back over 3,000 years, not only document the divination practices of the Shang Dynasty but also represent the wisdom of Chinese civilization. However, their complex character structures and distant historical context often make them difficult for ordinary people to fully understand. With the rapid development of digital media technology, film and video culture has become an increasingly influential communication medium. This research takes a close look at the bilingual micro-videos about oracle bones in the Feel of China series, examining how they present this ancient script in a multimodal context and analyzing their communication effectiveness. This research uses the quantitative analysis software ELAN to conduct a lens language analysis on bilingual micro-videos. It combines the context reconstruction theory and specific translation method cases to deeply analyze and summarize the process and principles of multimodal context reconstruction in subtitle translation in the process of film and television cultural dissemination. During the research process, for specific cases, the subtitle translation in the bilingual micro-video of Oracle Bone Script was analyzed at four levels: content, culture, context, and expression. Through the organic combination of various modalities such as vision, hearing, and text, the modern dissemination effect of Oracle Bone Script was significantly enhanced, and the cognitive experience of the audience was effectively improved. The conclusion section states that by conducting multimodal contextual analysis and reconstruction on bilingual micro-videos of oracle bone inscriptions, we can further optimize the dissemination effect of the videos and the cognitive experience of the audience. However, the research still has certain limitations. Influenced by the size of the sample and the scope of the research field, future research can further expand the sample size, choose different fields for research, explore the synergy between different modalities, and investigate how to enhance the information dissemination efficiency in a multimodal context through technological innovation.
