CONTINUING EDUCATION ON PHARMACEUTICAL ANAMNESIS IN GYNECOLOGY/OBSTETRICS IN THE CONTEXT OF A REGIONAL HOSPITAL
Physiological changes inherent to pregnancy and the puerperium have clinical repercussions on the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic aspects of drug therapy, which requires identification, prevention, and resolution of drug-related problems. The objective was to report the experience of developing a permanent education activity on pharmaceutical anamnesis in the gynecological/obstetric context of a regional hospital in Seridó Oriental Potiguar, during the period 2022/2024. To this end, a bibliographic survey and direct observation of work processes and service routines were carried out in order to support the assessment of health care needs and, consequently, the planning and execution of the continuing education activity. Therefore, the course “Topics in Pharmaceutical Anamnesis Applied to Gynecology/Obstetrics” was planned and executed. Initially, a pharmaceutical anamnesis instrument was developed, followed by training of pharmacists working at the hospital to apply the instrument. The course achieved the proposed pedagogical objectives, however, difficulties were noted among professionals in incorporating pharmaceutical anamnesis into their work processes, which makes evident the need for institutional support, in order to strengthen the process of continuing education and provide space and time, within the workload, for the development of clinical practices, which will contribute to the effectiveness and safety of drug treatment as well as to qualifying the management of the clinic.
