THE COGNITIVE BLUEPRINT: Extended Reflections on Human Evolution, Artificial Intelligence and Genomic Foresight

This working paper extends the framework introduced in Enhancing Human Intelligence via AI-Guided CRISPR-Cas9 Gene Editing (Version 4) by developing a theoretical model for conscious evolution—the deliberate, ethically governed enhancement of cognition through artificial intelligence and genomic foresight. It explores how modern civilisation has shifted selection pressures from survival to self-selection, leading to demographic contraction and cognitive stagnation. The paper proposes the Two-Phase Model of Cognitive Augmentation, emphasising empathy before intellect, and outlines the ethical architecture of autonomy, equity, and global governance. It situates AI-guided genomic foresight as a moral continuation of evolution rather than its replacement, advocating for a globally regulated, inclusive path toward cognitive enhancement.
