Acute Coronary Syndrome, Arterial Hypertension, and Metabolic Syndrome
Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) is diagnosed when angina attacks occur at rest or when patients with previously stable angina experience a marked increase in frequency, severity, or duration of chest pain. Unstable angina commonly results from increased coronary artery tone or platelet aggregation at the site of an atherosclerotic plaque. Metabolic Syndrome, on the other hand, is a cluster of metabolic abnormalities such as central obesity, hypertension, hyperglycemia, elevated serum triglycerides, and reduced high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels. These factors together significantly elevate the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases and cerebrovascular accidents (stroke).
