Design and implementation of network communication monitoring terminal for smart substation

With the advancement of substation integrated automation systems, the power grid has become increasingly intelligent, automated, and digitalized to meet the State Grid Corporation's requirements for the digital transformation of power grid equipment. In comparison to traditional substations, smart substations are now networked. This means that real-time data from system operations, as well as communication between secondary network interval layer devices, station control layer devices, remote and scheduling master stations, and guarantee sub-stations and master stations, is transmitted in the form of messages. Therefore, the reliable operation of network communication is crucial for the safe and stable functioning of the power grid. A network message monitoring terminal plays a vital role in debugging, operation and maintenance, and communication fault handling by capturing network message data. This paper aims to design a network data monitoring terminal by studying the functional requirements of network message capture. It collects and screens valid network message records, conducts a comprehensive evaluation and analysis of the communication networks in the substation and remote terminals, and provides data support for identifying communication fault points.
