LEVERAGING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FOR ENHANCING TEACHING AND LEARNING IN SOME SELECTED TERTIARY INSTITUTION IN BORNO STATE NIGERIA
This study investigates how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be effectively leveraged to enhance teaching and learning in selected tertiary institutions in Borno State, Nigeria. The objectives of the study are to assess current instructional practices, identify suitable AI applications, explore implementation challenges, and propose strategic recommendations for AI integration in higher education. A descriptive survey research design will be employed, targeting both lecturers and students across public and private tertiary institutions in the state. The study population includes 150 students and 50 lecturers, selected through a multistage sampling technique comprising purposive and stratified random sampling methods. Data will be collected using a structured questionnaire featuring both closed-ended and open-ended items. Validity of the instrument will be ensured through expert review, and reliability tested using Cronbach’s Alpha, with a minimum acceptable threshold of 0.7. Quantitative data will be analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The findings are expected to reveal the current state of AI awareness and usage, highlight its benefits and challenges in teaching and learning, and offer practical insights for policy and decision-makers to foster AI-driven educational transformation in the region.
