Analysis of short-circuit faults in AC submarine cable transmission system for offshore wind power
In recent years, multiple overvoltage incidents triggered by short-circuit faults in offshore wind farm AC submarine cable transmission systems. have resulted in substantial economic losses. Under adverse marine conditions and capacitance effects, offshore AC submarine cables prone to short-circuit faults, causing hazardous overvoltage to system operation stability and equipment insulation. To address this issue, based on the capacitance-dominant equivalent circuit model of AC submarine cable transmission systems, an analysis of the voltage under various types of short-circuit fault reveals the generation mechanism of overvoltage and its influencing factors. To investigate the characteristics and impacts of different short-circuit faults. Firstly, A model representing the offshore wind farm AC transmission system is developed, incorporating grid-side converters, phase-locked loops (PLL), and AC submarine cable parameters, to provide a theoretical foundation. Subsequently, based on the offshore wind power AC transmission system, the voltage equations for common short-circuit fault varieties are deduced respectively. Finally, fault characteristics of AC submarine cable transmission system and its influencing factors are analyzed through PSCAD simulation platform.
