Development and user engagement strategies of the EU Mobile App for Cancer Prevention
Abstract Digital tools have the potential to enhance the reach, accessibility, and personal relevance of cancer prevention. As outlined in Europe's Beating Cancer Plan, the BUMPER project is supporting the development of the EU Mobile App for Cancer Prevention. This App aims to translate the scientific recommendations of ECAC5 into an interactive, user-friendly tool tailored to individual needs and preferences, to broaden and enhance the dissemination and use of the ECAC. This presentation will introduce the concept and development pathway of the App, outlining the methodological approach taken to ensure scientific accuracy and user relevance, including co-creation processes with target users, usability testing, and alignment with behavioural science principles. Special attention is given to addressing digital inclusion, with features developed to support accessibility for different age groups, levels, and cultural contexts. Participants will gain insight into the intersection of public health communication, digital innovation, and user-centred design, with implications for the wider application of digital tools in noncommunicable disease prevention.
