Research status and hotspot analysis in Management Science and Engineering Discipline
This study aims to analyze the latest research trends in the field of Management Science and Engineering Discipline in 2024, and conduct a comparative analysis with the research hotspots in this discipline five years ago. Based on bibliometric analysis methods, this study examines 24705 research papers from the Web of Science Core Collection under the discipline "Management Science and Engineering" as the research sample. Through knowledge mapping techniques utilizing author keywords, this paper reveals the most recent research trends in this field. The results indicate that the United States and China lead significantly in publication output, with most findings published in international journals, though China still faces challenges in standardizing disciplinary classification systems and institutional structures. Domestic collaboration networks among Chinese research institutions exhibit weak connectivity, highly productive institutions demonstrated relatively low participation in research collaborations, with synergistic effects yet to be fully realized, whereas international counterparts have established more robust transnational cooperative networks. A notable shift has occurred in high-frequency keywords, with traditional research hotspots like pricing and dynamic programming gradually fading from prominence. Chinese research continues to focus on traditional strengths like supply chain management and game theory, while emerging directions such as deep learning and digital transformation are rapidly gaining traction. Internationally, machine learning, sustainability, and artificial intelligence dominate the discourse. Both domestic and international research share core disciplinary focuses—management science, supply chain and logistics, and economics—yet demonstrate distinct thematic emphases. Despite these differences, they converge toward a unified trend of "technology empowerment + societal value" integration.
