Leveraging disease registries and administrative data

Abstract Administrative health data and disease-specific registries-such as cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular registries-are foundational for outcome monitoring in NCD control. However, significant variability remains across countries in terms of data quality, coverage, interoperability, and legal accessibility. Drawing on insights from the JACARDI project, this presentation examines how such data sources can be better leveraged for timely and accurate disease surveillance, what current limitations exist, and how data linkage and harmonization efforts (e.g., using ICD, OMOP, ETL models) can support a more integrated monitoring system at national and EU levels.
