Mental health and social inequality: National and Nordic trends, measurement quality and validity
Abstract In the third presentation of the workshop, we present a trend perspective on measurement and change of social inequalities in life satisfaction from 2002-2018. Considering overall societal trends of increasing social inequalities and rise in mental health challenges, it is pertinent that we have measurements that are valid to be used among adolescents of different ages, and across time. Based on data from the cross-national research study Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) we ask whether self-reported socioeconomic status can be measured the same way across time, and if so, to what extent the relative and absolute inequality have changed across the period.
