RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN KNOWLEDGE OF ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE PACKAGES BY BUSINESS EDUCATION GRADUATE STUDENTS IN RIVERS STATE UNIVERSITIES AND THEIR EMPLOYABILITY REQUIREMENTS
The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between knowledge of accounting software packages and employability requirements of Business Education graduate students in Rivers State universities. Two research questions and two corresponding null hypotheses guided the study. The population of the study comprised 15 accounting education lecturers and 180 Business Education graduate students. The entire population was studied without sampling because the size was not too large.. Two sets of self-constructed questionnaire titled “Knowledge of accounting software packages (KASP)” and “Business Education graduate students’ employability requirements (BEGSER)”were used in collecting data for this study. The research instruments were validated by three experts; two Business Educators and one Measurement and Evaluation. Reliability level for the instruments was established using a test-re-test method. Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used to analyse the two sets of data and the reliability coefficient values of 0.76 for two questionnaires.. Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used for answering the research questions while Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient Method and t-transformation were used in testing the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Findings of the study revealed a positive relationship between Spreedsheet, Peachtree and Wave accounting software packages and employability requirements of Business Education graduate students in Rivers Universities. The study shows a significant relationship between knowledge of spreadsheet, peachtree, and Wave Accounting
