Strategies for enhancing the academic influence of comprehensive sci-tech journals in the context of media convergence: An analysis of new media practice based on six representative journals
Under the background of the rapid development of digital communication, new media platforms have become important channels for sci-tech journals to expand their academic influence. This study selects six representative comprehensive sci-tech journals: Chinese Science Bulletin, Science & Technology Review, Bulletin of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Science Bulletin, Research, and National Science Review as research subjects, systematically examining their new media communication practice. It is found that, by constructing diversified communication matrices, these journals have implemented innovative practices such as real-time interpretation of scientific hotspots, construction of science communication communities, and interaction and communication between scholars and the public. Meanwhile, they have achieved remarkable results in brand building, international communication, and promotion of scientific spirit. However, the study also reveals persistent challenges: relatively simplistic academic exchange models, insufficient innovation in content presentation formats, international dissemination requiring expansion and enhancement, and the need for systematic and professional development of talent pools. This research proposes developmental recommendations across four dimensions including innovating interaction paradigms, diversifying content formats, expanding international channels, and refining talent cultivation, which aimes aiming to provide practical references for comprehensive scientific journals to navigate pathways for new media communication and elevate their influence.
