Digital Circuitality II: A Thermodynamic Framework for Computational Systems
This paper establishes a rigorous thermodynamic framework for Digital Circuitality by introducing the Entropic Thermodynamic Coefficient (ETC), a unified metric integrating energy consumption, information entropy, and system coherence. By formally bridging Landauer’s principle and Shannon’s theory, the work offers a quantitative method to analyze and optimize the thermodynamic efficiency of computational systems. Verified “circuital” systems are shown to minimize ETC, achieving both energetic and informational coherence. The framework provides fundamental theorems, dimensional consistency, and concrete numerical examples, forming the physical foundation for energy-efficient, reliable computation. This contribution extends the paradigm shift initiated in Paper I, laying groundwork for future coherence and algebraic principles in computational thermodynamics.
