CRISPR-Cas9 Gene Editing: In-Silico Analysis
This research focuses on the CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing system, a powerful tool for precise modification of DNA in living organisms. The project was conducted entirely using computer-based bioinformatics tools without requiring a wet lab. The main objectives were to: Retrieve target gene sequences from public databases. Analyze DNA composition and calculate nucleotide frequency and GC content. Translate DNA sequences into protein sequences using ExPASy Translate Tool. Compare proteins across species using NCBI BLASTp to determine similarity and conservation. The study demonstrates the workflow of in-silico gene sequence analysis, showing how bioinformatics tools can be used to understand gene structure, protein coding, and evolutionary relationships. The results indicate high conservation of the studied genes among related species, confirming the utility of CRISPR-Cas9 in precise gene editing applications.
