From oscillatory meta-locking to awareness: The Ω-SVR framework for consciousness

This work introduces the Ω-SVR Consciousness Index (Ω-SVR-CI), a novel biomarker of consciousness grounded in the Static Vibrational Reality (SVR) framework. In SVR, all physical systems are embedded in a universal oscillation of frequency Ω. Consciousness is proposed to emerge when local neural oscillations undergo a Hopf bifurcation into a state of meta-locking across frequencies and scales, aligning with the universal frequency grid. We develop Ω-SVR-CI by combining: Phase–amplitude coupling (PAC) between alpha phase and beta/gamma amplitudes, Global coherence and phase diffusion as integration metrics, An Ω-weight, quantifying alignment with the universal oscillatory grid. Using EEG recordings from subjects under propofol anesthesia, we show that Ω-SVR-CI discriminates between responsive and unresponsive states (pooled AUC ~0.62), and reveals the hysteresis of consciousness: loss and recovery follow distinct trajectories, consistent with an energetic cost of meta-locking. This framework suggests an “ATP law of consciousness”, analogous to the ATP cost of life, and offers a unified perspective connecting neural dynamics, energy, and universal oscillations. The results have implications for anesthesia monitoring, coma assessment, and theories of cosmopsychism.
