INTERPROFESSIONAL EDUCATION IN THE CONTEXT OF MULTIPROFESSIONAL HEALTH RESIDENCIES: POTENTIALITIES AND CHALLENGES

This text is designed to discuss the current scenario of Interprofessional Education in Multiprofessional Residencies in Brazil, about the potential and challenges for its operationalization in the daily routine of health education. This is a theoretical-reflective text, constructed as a theoretical essay, using scientific literature on Interprofessional Education (IPE) as a source. The collaborative practices made possible by multi-professional residency programs in health contribute to the training of professionals who can work together and in a differentiated way, to meet local and regional needs and strengthen the principles of the Unified Health System (SUS). However, the teaching-service integration process is sometimes weakened, mainly due to the strong link with the biomedical model. The conclusion is that Multiprofessional Health Residencies are a favorable scenario for Interprofessional Education, despite the major challenges faced by services in their daily practices, which need to be faced.
