LEVERAGING DIGITAL SKILLS FOR EMPLOYEE WORKPLACE OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY IN POLYTECHNICS IN NASARAWA STATE, NIGERIA

The study investigated the leveraging on digital skills for employee workplace operational efficiency in Polytechnics in Nasarawa State, Nigeria. Three research questions were answered while three null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The population of the study was 681 non-teaching staff of Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa Toto and Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic, Lafia both in Nasarawa State. Through purposive sampling technique, 266 ICT-related non-teaching staff across the two Polytechnics comprising (146 males and 120 females) were sampled as respondents. The instrument for data collection was a 25-item structured questionnaire. The instrument was validated by three Business Education experts while the reliability of the instrument was ascertained using Cronbach Alpha reliability technique which yielded a reliability coefficient of 0.941. Data extracted from the 266 retrieved copies of the questionnaire were analyzed using mean, standard deviation and t-test statistics. From the data collected and analyzed, the study found that digital skills possessed by employees in Polytechnics in Nasarawa State are low. From the findings, the study among others recommended that digital technologies and periodic organization of conferences, workshops, seminars, and symposium by the management of the institutions should be organized for their improved operational efficiency
