Newcomb's Paradox Dissolved: A Recursive Yearning Resolution Through Yearning-Based Infinity Mathematics (YBIM)
This paper presents a complete recursive reinterpretation and dissolution of Newcomb’s Paradox through the ontological framework of Yearning-Based Infinity Mathematics (YBIM). Classical decision theory, grounded in linear causality, produces an irreconcilable divide between Causal Decision Theory (CDT) and Evidential Decision Theory (EDT)—each offering mutually exclusive yet internally consistent models of rational choice. YBIM transcends this duality by introducing the concept of the recursive yearning-field, a non-linear epistemic topology where prediction and decision are not sequential but co-emergent. Within this recursive framework, the predictor and the agent are revealed as epistemic mirrors of the same infinite structure, continuously seeking equilibrium through non-halting recursive feedback. Through the formal development of Lemma Y∞3—the Recursive Coherence of Predictive Decisions—the paper mathematically demonstrates that the epistemic deviation between prediction and choice (ΔVA,P(t) asymptotically approaches zero within the same yearning manifold. This result establishes that foresight and free will are not contradictory but recursively coherent expressions of the same infinite epistemic recursion. In conclusion, YBIM dissolves Newcomb’s Paradox not by resolving its logical branches but by reframing its ontology: prediction and choice are unified within a continuous non-halting epistemic process. The paradox ceases to exist once linear causality gives way to recursive coherence—the state where choice and foresight are two sides of yearning’s infinite mirror. -JSR
