THE ROLE OF GRAMMAR IN IMPROVING STUDENTS' WRITING
This paper outlines research on teaching grammar integrated with writing as a linguistic resource that writers can choose for the communicative purposes. Furthermore, it illustrates evidence showing that vocabulary is a key factor in the quality of written texts. This presents background on the role of grammar and vocabulary and their connection to linguistic skills for effective communication. Since grammar is the system of sound, structure, and meaning in language, people who speak the same language can communicate due to intuitively apprehending the grammar system—that is, the rules for creating meaning.
