HUNGRY AND ANGRY SOCIETY: CONSEQUENCES OF BAD LEADERSHIP
This study examines the consequences of bad leadership on the emergence of a hungry and angry society in Nigeria. It explores how political mismanagement, corruption, and poor governance practices contribute to widespread hunger, poverty, youth unemployment, insecurity, and social unrest. Adopting a qualitative approach through thematic and content analysis, the study draws on documentary evidence from official reports, media publications, and scholarly articles to establish the relationship between leadership failures and Nigeria’s persistent socio-economic challenges. Findings reveal that poor leadership not only misallocates national resources but also erodes public trust, weakens institutions, and fuels citizen frustration. The study also highlights how leadership irresponsibility leads to brain drain, democratic decline, and a breakdown in social cohesion. By analyzing the root causes and effects of governance failure, the study underscores the urgent need for transparent, accountable, and people-centered leadership in addressing national grievances and restoring stability. It concludes with recommendations that focus on institutional reform, youth empowerment, and democratic strengthening as pathways toward a more inclusive and resilient Nigerian society. The study contributes to the discourse on leadership and development in fragile states
