Rechtliche Regelungen der Eheschließung in Nahverhältnissen (Verwandtschaft u.ä.) in rabbinischer Halacha - Legal Regulations of Marriage in Affinity Relationships (Kinship, etc.) in Rabbinic Halacha

Marriage rules of halacha follow a via negative, making various prohibitions along the way on how not to behave in marriage or one’s sexual life. Positive-educational aspects are developed indirectly in the Midrash. In the foreground, however, is the formation of a kinship that seeks to achieve purity by distancing itself from incest and perversion. In the same category are subsumed, for example, zoophilia as well as homosexuality. Distance therefrom defines the boundaries of the holy community, which as a whole is punished for deviation (sinfulness) in individual cases. The present essay offers an overview of the close relations or affinity considered here. In addition, medieval scholars’ philosophical justification of the system is addressed. These meta-halachic questions occupy scholars to this day in various streams of Judaism.
