Genome-wide mapping of 5-methylcytosine motifs in 272 MERS-CoV genomes
This dataset provides the comprehensive computational atlas of 5-methylcytosine (m5C) motifs across 272 global MERS-CoV genomes. It catalogs 626,926 putative m5C sites spanning three sequence contexts such as CG (193,441), CCA (104,475), and ACW (329,010) mapped to genomic features including ORF1ab, Spike (S), Nucleocapsid (N), and accessory genes. The data reveal strong enrichment in ORF1ab (70% of all motifs), suggesting a role for m5C in regulating viral replication machinery. Included are per-genome motif positions, summary statistics, and analysis-ready CSV files. This resource enables epitranscriptomic studies of MERS-CoV evolution and host-virus RNA modification interplay. This dataset is part of larger study on MERS-CoV Evolution and possible zoonotic transferability analytics and predictions. Data processed and curation by [email protected]
